A Kolam is a traditional ancient art form of south India which is very popular as these are geometrical line drawing composed of curved loops, drawn around a grid pattern of dots.Kolam is a form of drawing that is drawn by using rice flour, chalk, chalk powder or rock powder, often

using naturally or synthetically colored powders.
Kolams are regionally known by different names in India, Raangolee in Maharashtra, Aripan in Mithila, Hase and Rangoli in Kannada in Karnataka, Muggulu in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Indian women create different kolam or rangoli designs infront of the house in the early morning taking ideas from the nature like flowers,deepams,diyas,animals like elephants,cows, fruits, birds ..etc
Rangoli or kolam designs are drawn with dots like 5 dots, 6 dots , 7dots , 8 dots , 9 dots and so on and without dots also its called freehand rangoli.It is created with rice flour with multiple colours or white colour itself.
